Despite considerable efforts for widening the tax base, still the number of taxpayers in our country, is about 82.7 million people which is 6.25 per cent of the over 132 crore population, which is too small for our country. In contrast, in the U.S., about 45 per cent of the population pays taxes.

However, the feeling of pride and fulfillment that comes with knowing that my contribution is making a difference in the lives of my fellow citizens is priceless. I believe that by recognizing and appreciating the efforts of taxpayers, we can encourage more people to fulfill their civic duty with enthusiasm and pride.
Furthermore, this gesture could also serve as a reminder to taxpayers of the importance of their role in nation-building. It could encourage them to stay informed and engaged with government policies and initiatives, and inspire them to participate in the democratic process with renewed vigor.
